Position Overview

The Strategic Buyer is responsible for driving a structured, data-driven procurement process that goes beyond price negotiation to secure the best long-term value for the business. This role involves analyzing spending patterns, researching global supply markets, selecting suppliers based on multiple criteria, negotiating favorable terms, and building strong supplier relationships. The Strategic Buyer ensures procurement activities are fully aligned with overall business strategy, aiming to reduce the total cost of ownership, improve efficiency, manage supply chain risks, and enhance overall value and resilience.

What you do

1. Strategic Procurement & Market Analysis

  • Lead the procurement of engineering services, nearshore/offshore activities, and contingent workforce solutions.
  • Analyze procurement markets globally to identify opportunities, risks, and trends.
  • Conduct detailed spend analyses and supplier performance evaluations to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop procurement strategies that align with long-term business objectives and operational needs.

2. Supplier Selection & Contracting

  • Manage complex tendering processes, ensuring transparency, competitiveness, and compliance.
  • Select suppliers based on multiple evaluation criteria, including quality, cost, reliability, and innovation.
  • Negotiate and establish framework agreements and project contracts with engineering service and nearshore providers worldwide.
  • Ensure contracts meet compliance, legal, and corporate governance standards.

3. Supplier Relationship Management

  • Actively support the monitoring, development, and continuous improvement of selected suppliers.
  • Foster long-term partnerships with strategic suppliers to enhance collaboration, innovation, and resilience.
  • Mitigate supply chain risks by ensuring supplier diversification and developing contingency strategies.

4. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with project management, engineering, legal, and finance teams to ensure procurement strategies meet project and organizational goals.
  • Act as the key interface between suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and alignment.
  • Support knowledge-sharing initiatives across teams to strengthen procurement practices and supplier management.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • Strong interest in automotive software, nearshoring/offshoring models, and process optimization.
  • Several years of professional experience in engineering services procurement, contingent workforce management, and/or nearshore/offshore sourcing.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); knowledge of German is considered an advantage.
