About us

Software development for the automotive industry today is an exciting job. Software plays an increasingly significant role in cars, as well as in their value. When we create and build something previously unheard of, we get to take our skills in completely new directions.

Would you be interested in growing your skill set in an international work environment and having an impact on the future of mobility? We are looking for several Software Architects to join our team. You can work in Oulu or in our remote hub in Rovaniemi, which will be established during Spring 2022.

Working with us, you won’t just have to put up with bad jokes and fantastic colleagues; we’ll take you with us on a journey into the world of the top automotive brands, accelerating you into a career in the fast-changing world of electric and autonomous vehicles.

The aim of our work

Here at Elektrobit we make our own software products for use in cars, as well as development projects directly for clients. We are working toward a world in which mobility causes zero fatalities, produces low emissions, and transforms your commute into quality time.

We have quite a reputation in the automotive industry. We were among the first software developers in the field and history shows that we got some things right. Still, we don’t spend our time looking nostalgically in the rear-view mirror, thinking about times gone by and ‘90s cars we’ve loved. We are determined to continue our success story onwards and upwards, helping to shape the future of the automotive software.

The aim of our work is to create value for clients. Value isn’t only found in the software but also in the specialist expertise we bring to projects, and in our (sometimes unexpected) solutions that help accelerate development. And one Finnish value shines through in what we do: we deliver what we promise.

A few words about your position

As an Architect you will have the possibility to work in world class and unique automotive software projects with the latest and most modern components of the embedded world in cooperation with leading companies in the automotive industry.

The best thing about our work is the opportunity to solve interesting problems daily. For example, do you like to see tangible results by being part of international team creating world class infotainment systems? Are you interested in defining architectures, as well as implementing new features in it? Or maybe you are interested in creating and maintaining software architecture for high-performance computing platforms in future cars?

Your position is not completely set-in stone. We’d rather hear what you think – let’s work together to come up with a role that inspires you.

What do we offer?

  • You will join a team with an excellent reputation in automotive software development. We receive fantastic feedback, and clients specifically seek co-operation with Finland site for challenging projects. If you want to learn new things, working with us is a great platform for you.

  • We have many travelled miles behind us – decades of experience combined with the latest skills and know-how. We also have a genuinely diverse, multinational team – for example, we have skilled employees from over 20 countries working in Finland.
  • If you are interested in cars and vehicle-related technologies, this is the place for you. You will see the future of cars as well as the real-world results of your own work.
  • Our work has its realities, of course – what job doesn’t? With us they might be tighter standards, maintaining development work, more traditional tools, or taking responsibility for some part of a bigger client development project. We see these challenges as opportunities for growth.
  • We also offer you flexible working hours and possibility to partial mobile work and many benefits like sport, culture and massage vouchers, employer-provided bicycle, lunch compensation, team and company activities, comprehensive health care including annual dental checks

What do we expect from you?

We hope you have solid practical work experience in software development. We appreciate know-how and expertise especially in embedded software development, so if you have worked with e.g.  C, C++, Android, that's a good thing!

For us it is also important that…
  • you haven’t stopped developing yourself. You want to learn new things and share your own knowledge and expertise. Perhaps you are interested specifically in software development for the car industry.
  • your approach to work is solution-orientated and you have good communication skills. You can see the bigger picture, understand how things relate to each other, and tackle things with positive mindset, like we do.
  • you know how to analyse and can make a start on something even before you have all the information available. You are able to present your own suggested solution, and when communicating you consider how your listener is seeing and hearing the thing in question. You enjoy working with others.
  • you are able to work and communicate well in English as we work in an international company.
  • you enjoy working in a safe and trust-based work community. Humour is allowed and encouraged, and we are not afraid to have opinions. Our days are full of positivity, and our mood is not even brought down by the bitter cold wind in Oulu or crispy frost in Rovaniemi. We are also happy that our owner, Continental, values what we do and our expertise. And although we are owned by a large company, we are still all about our people.
